Melissa Burkley received her PhD in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has published over thirty scientific articles and book chapters, as well as a textbook. Her work has been featured in New York Times, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Esquire, and Men’s Health, as well as the hit TV series Person of Interest. She has also served as a psychological consultant for O, The Oprah Magazine, TIME, Psychology Today, The Globe and Mail, and The Telegraph.
